Thank You to 815 East Devon Green Voters!

Polling stationI would like to say a MASSIVE thank you to all the people who helped with the GREEN PARTY General Election campaign in East Devon. There were lots of dedicated passionate souls beavering away behind the scenes and my thanks to everyone involved. You are all superstars, thank you so very much.

We were over the moon to receive 1.5% of the votes last Thursday. This means that 815 people in East Devon voted GREEN and I would like to personally thank each and every person for voting for the GREEN option on election day, a GREEN option which has long been missing off the ballot papers here in East Devon.

We’d love to hear from as many of the 815 as possible. Please add your comments below.

We only set up the new East Devon Green Party group in January 2010 and have some wonderful dedicated people (members & non-members) in the group across¬†the areas of Sidmouth, Ottery St Mary, Exmouth, Budleigh Salterton, Honiton, Seaton and Axminster. Our next meeting is on Saturday 12th June 2pm to 4pm at Twyford House in Sidmouth, all welcome. We’re a very friendly bunch, and would love to meet you and welcome you to our group.

  1. That’s 2 of the 815 mystery people !! Thanks Cherry & Stephen. As the constituencies have been re-jigged, I’m in Tiverton & Honiton so voted for Cathy Connor – who got 802 votes, well done Cathy. (1.42%) Cherry – can you email me Stephen’s email address so I can say thanks. I bumped into him when we were campaigning and he was ever so lovely. I’d also like to invite him to the next meeting on 12th June in Sidmouth. Cheers x

  2. Was so excited to walk along the spring Green Devon lanes and vote at tiny Escot Village Hall………canvassing before the election on the buses of East Devon was great, thanks Sharon.

  3. Thank you Ana – I had a lovely day with you and Sharon and Mark and Bee canvassing Ottery, Sidmouth, Budleigh and Exmouth. Must put some of the pictures up on here and get the video put together (somehow!?). Did you get your camera film processed?

  4. It was wonderful to be able to put a cross next to something I believe in for the first time since I’ve lived here.
Congrats Sharon on a great achievement – you’ve worked really hard and I’m sure it will stand you in good stead for the local elections next year. You’ve put us on the local map!

  5. I liked being able to do that too Sharon – it’s very important that we can have the option to vote for the things we believe in. I don’t feel quite so whet behind the ears now either – I’m actually more enthused to go for anything we can to get Greens in the picture all across East Devon. Would love to see a Green standing for Honiton Town Council. Perhaps we should be out with the stall there asap – recruiting new members and potential town councillors. Not sure when they are calling the election for that?

  6. My sentiments entirely,(same as Sharon Howe). I walked into the polling station with no doubts or hesitation whatsoever as to where my X should go. Thanks to the ‘multiverse’ for sending us Sharon Pavey to take on a task that few of us could manage. Hoorah for Sharon and all the Greens!

  7. Thanks Bee, I know some of our Greenies were so appalled at the thought of Hugo Swire being their MP for a third term that they voted LibDem. But now their LibDem choice Paull Robothan has ditched the party he was loyal to for 44 years, after they ditched him and went with the enemy!! Goodness, what a palaver. Glad I’m a Green and I voted for something I believe in. Be interesting if they call an election again (when Dave & Nick fall out) as who will the Lib Dems ship in then? I believe they had some problems filling the East Devon seat as it was.
